Community Events

The Transit Museum hosts free community events beyond its walls during the year, bringing our vintage fleets directly to New York City neighborhoods. Our Holiday Nostalgia Rides and Parade of Trains provide opportunities to ride our vintage trains, some over 100 years old, with just the swipe of a MetroCard or an OMNY tap. Bus Festival showcases our surface transit fleet and offers activities for all ages.

Programs at the Museum

As both a museum and a decommissioned subway station, the Transit Museum is the perfect venue to join a lecture, play trivia, watch a performance, take a workshop, socialize with friends or make new ones!

Virtual Programs

Our virtual programs are a series of conversations, presentations, workshops, and performances inspired by the Museum’s exhibitions and collections. Come together online, share ideas, and learn about transit and NYC history! Enjoy a selection of past programs on our YouTube channel.
